About the event
The International Symposium on Civilising Processes (SIPC) is held since 1996, when it had its first edition at Campinas State University (UNICAMP), being organized later by national institutions (UNIMEP, UFPR, UNESP, UFPB, UFPE, UTFPR, UFGD, UFES) and foreign institutions (UBA- Argentina, UNC – Colombia, UNAM- Mexico)
After sixteen editions, there is an international event consolidated and recognized by the academic community and by the Norbert Elias Foundation – located in the Netherlands. The 17th SPIC will be promoted in 2018 by the Research Group on Civilising Processes and by the Laboratory of Studies of the Portuguese Empire, through an interinstitutional partnership between the Londrina State University (UEL) and the Maringá State University (UEM).
The 17th SIPC will bring together Brazilian and foreigner researchers that take as reference, in their studies and researches, the Theory of Civilising Processes and Figurational Sociology of Norbert Elias and their interfaces with other theoretical interlocutors and other fields of knowledge. The Symposium has as its main theme the “figurational, historical, political, social and educative processes”.
We hope to receive you with our best in the 17th SIPC! UEL, Londrina/PR – Brazil. 2018.
